The earrings are diamond-shaped and embellished with agate and pink and fuchsia crystals. The ring, with its hypoallergenic gold-plated metal base, has the same shape and decoration as the earrings.

Skillful hands intent on embroidering precious details: this image accompanied my childhood, like that of so many children here in Sicily.
Under the bright light of the skylight in her home, my grandmother embroidered her precious lace with patience and precision, and I watched in admiration as she created a delicate beauty of shapes and colors.
Embroidery, in Sicily and beyond, was a hobby for women, but also, at times, a means of supporting the family income or becoming financially independent.
The making of tatting lace is still widespread throughout the island today.
